Andy Fauer
Historic Architecture Preservation
Specialist
Andy, or as the construction crew
calls him: “The Anachronism”, is a young man with the
mannerisms and dress of someone from the great depression. He loves
history. A former foster child who beat the system, Andy managed to
attain multiple degrees in Anthropology, Historic Preservation Studies,
and Mining Engineering. He knew very little of his family other than
that they came to America after the 2nd World War from South America
as refugees, and that one of his male ancestors was a doctor….maybe.
Andy likes to say this project found him, but the fact that this once
great asylum was the brain child of one of the Art Moderne architects
of the early 20th century, as well as a semi-healthy fascination with
the criminally insane, it seems the reverse. The crew says he belongs
here. Andy likes to explore the building for hours at a time, sometimes
with Diamond Collins, searching deeper and deeper into the depth of
“The Old Girl” (as he calls ASLA) looking for “something”.
PERSONAL NOTE
Most recently, I informed Mrs. Collins I discovered another
chapel in the newly opened wing. I told her the strange thing about
this chapel is it’s not in the blueprints and there is supposed
to be an elevator in that part of that building. I gained her permission
to take the blueprints to verify the problem.

CAROLINE COLLINS NOTE
"Several workers claim to have
heard disembodied, pleading cries for help near where the new chapel
is believed to exist. People are worried about Andy, but I insist
that it is likely he has just gone on vacation and will return soon.·
